Lyla officially arrived today at 11:14 a.m., Aug. 22. Rachel called us around 8:30 last night that she had arrived at the hospital but a couple of hours later, she said she was being sent home because contractions had ceased or were at least far apart. Then she went back to the hospital around 3:30 a.m. and told us the contractions were closer and she was given an Epidural and was actually going to rest a little bit. She re-called us around 6 a.m. and we got ready to go Pennsylvania hosptial, getting there around 6:40. Around 8:30 the midwife came in, they generally use midwives at this hospital unless there are complications, and we heard her explanations of some procedures. Linda and I then went to the waiting room, shortly thereafter accompanied by Dave's parents who drove down from Central New Jersey. There were some mild complications but nothing that turned out injurious to Rachel or Lyla or Dave. The baby was then delivered and they took more time to clean up everybody. Linda and I got a quick look at Lyla nursing from Linda before going home to eat and rest.
